AiPACE Receives $1,591,000 in Federal Funding through Bipartisan Support

Through the advocacy of Representative Adam Smith and Senator Patty Murray, Aging in PACE Washington (AiPACE) was awarded $1,591,000 in federal funding. These critical funds will help create a brand new all-inclusive care facility, serving over 400 elders through daily preventive, primary, acute and long-term ambulatory care throughout King County. This nationally-recognized integrated model of care enables low-income, nursing-home eligible adults to age independently at home or in the community.

"We're incredibly grateful for the bipartisan support for AiPACE, an adult day center and clinic appropriately located on Beacon Hill that will make aging-in-place possible for generations to come.” Heidi Wong, ICHS Foundation Executive Director

Limited English-speaking Asian families already face great challenges due to difficulties navigating the complicated medical system because of language and cultural barriers, but the frightening rise in anti-Asian hate crimes – many targeting Asian elders – has deepened elders’ fears about going out and accessing support. Since 2020, the devastating physical and mental health impacts of COVID-19 have added to the heightened service needs. In response, ICHS is leading the effort in addressing these critical needs with the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) for the Asian Pacific Islander population through our current embryonic PACE program at Legacy House.
